  Higurashi:: When They Cry target for an October date to release the first four chapters. Releasing the next four chapter in about two month. Targeted for mature audience, 18+ . The localization of Higurashi was due to MangaGamer.com fan requests. A suspense horror visual novel.

Sands of Destruction

  FUNimation acquired home entertainment, broadcast, digital and merchandise rights of Sands of Destruction. From SEGA of America Inc., for 13 episode, which is the first season. Sand of Destruction the is based off of SAGA’s video game with the same title.
  This is SEGA’S first anime partnership to launch with Production IG.
  Directed by Shunsuki Tada and also known as the critically acclaimed World Destruction: Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokuni in Japan.
  Set on a ocean less planet where the oceans is replaced with sand. The humans are not the only inhabitants. The Therians are super strong beast-like race and the dominate race over the humans. Kiyri is a wanderer who live under the oppression from the Therians. He is dragged into a conflict with mankind’s future.

Thanks to VIZ and New People, a 134 seat subterranean theater that features the latest J-Pop culture in animation, art, and film. Door opens on August 15th located in San Francisco, CA.
20th Century Boys Live-Action Film
VIZ Cinema grand opening starts off with a regional premiere of the 20th Century Boys live -action film. In partnership with Nippon Television. Get advance tickets on-sale on July 31. With more Century Boys movie premiers shortly following in English subtitles.

FUNimation And The Fourth Slayer Series

 lina-inverse-from-slayer.jpg Slayer Revolution English dub is coming out in the first quarter of 2010. In 26 chapters. Cast includes Crispin Freeman who is the voice behind Alucard from Hellsing, Ghost in the Shell and Naruto. In Slayer, Freeman is the voice behind Zelgadis. Along with Lisa Ortiz as Lina, Eric Staurt, Veronica Taylor and Michael Sinterniklass. The previous English cast from The Slayer, Slayer Next, and Slyer Try is coming back for the fantasy adventure series, Slayer Revolution from Enoki Films
  Lina Inverse and her companions cross their land to search of replacing the Sword of Light. The 26 episode DVD is set for 2010.

  Shonen Sunday magazine is launched by Viz. Featuring works from top shonen manga creators. The series to launch is Rin-ne by Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha). Which will be the first volume to be publish simultaneously. Hitting the shelves on October 20, 2009. Rin-ne is rated T and can find this series online at The Rumic World web site. Release for both the US and Canada.

Gundam turn 30 this year as Japan and fan can enjoy the 60 feet or 18 meter tall replica of a massive Mobil Suit. Over at Tokyo’s Odaiba seaside park. From July 11th -August 31st. The first Gundam animation sci-fi series air in 1979. Set 100 years in the future in a space war between hostile space colonies and the Earth Federation. Bringing us a franchise of more series, films, spinoff video games, and comic books  

 An Academic View on Gundam

Other inspiration from the Gundam’s legacy is International Gundam Society. An international academic society of mainly researchers from colleges. Established by the Animation Biennials Foundation of an of the Hiroshima Keizai Doyukai (economic association) and other groups. Chairman Shinya Hashizume, professor. Founded last year in August 2008. Which research the Gundam universe and study the future of mankind in an anthropological and sociological aspects the Mobile Suit Gundam presented in the series. Touching of the importance of the futurology on food issues, environment, and population.
